The Mcommerce WAPPY Awards nominees were selected by a group of six judges who have a special understanding of the wireless industry. More than 10,000 m-commerce sites were considered before selecting the top 20 finalists. Judges evaluated nominees based on several criteria, including accessibility, navigability, relevance of content or product offerings, and overall design.

This year's judges were: Lydia Lee, staff writer, The Industry Standard; Craig Peddie, general manager and director of the Lexicus Division, Motorola; Chris Hurst, vice president of North American Services Sales, Sun MicroSystems; Craig Dalton, director of business development, Proteus; Tom Parrish, director of business development, AT&T Wireless; and Dr. Ronjon Nag, CEO and co-founder, Cellmania.

"We were very impressed not only by the number of companies developing Web sites specifically for the wireless user, but also the caliber of those sites," said Chris Hurst of Sun MicroSystems who served as one of the judges. "If this year's Mcommerce WAPPY Awards nominees are any indication, the future of m-commerce stands to be very exciting."

The winners in each category as well as the award for "Best of Show" will be announced on December 13 at an invitation-only cocktail reception during the Mcommerce Conference and Expo at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York.
