Award recognizes nine innovators for best consumer-oriented wireless Internet sites

NEW ORLEANS, La., Feb. 29, 2000 -- Cellmania.com, the Internet's leading wireless commerce site, today announced the winners of the first-ever Wappy Awards, which recognize consumer WAP (wireless application protocol) sites that provide superior mobile phone content. The awards, sponsored by Cellmania.com, were presented today at the CTIA Wireless 2000 Conference in New Orleans. Motorola, BroadVision and American Wireless served as co-sponsors.

In conjunction with the Wappy Awards, Cellmania.com also today announced the launch of the "mFinder"--a directory of the best WAP sites around the world and the first WAP directory to feature comprehensive ratings and reviews.

Strategy.com Selected as Best Overall WAP Site

Strategy.com was awarded the highest honor for "Best Overall WAP" for creating a simple intuitive interface that allows consumers to conduct a wide variety of tasks via a phone-based Internet, including researching and electronically mailing articles, setting up a stock portfolio.

A panel of WAP experts reviewed more than 500 sites before selecting the winners. The judging was based on five criteria: overall usefulness to the mobile consumer, content, ease of use and navigation, interactivity and robustness of site.

"mFinder" is available from the Web and from the phone at Error in tag. The Web version emulates the WAP-version of sites so that customers don't have to spend expensive airtime on their phones. Customers are also able to research and purchase a wide range of Internet-capable wireless phones from Cellmania.com.
